Married almost ten years this loving Christian couple considered their family complete until the beginning of this year. Edward and Karina relate, “God had other plans for us…as part of our discipleship we have learned to understand God’s will to love Him and love others. Individually we got the urge to grow our family, specifically to adopt a daughter or pair of siblings.” As they discussed their feelings and the complex implications they add, “We could not overcome the desire of one day loving our new children and watching them grow under our care and warmth. God has provided us more than we need. We feel we are called to steward His resources to love and raise our future children.”
Eddie, who has a MDiv and serves as an Army Chaplain with the Florida National Guard, works as a criminal investigator for the US Dept. of HHS/OIG. Karina is a self-employed accountant. Joshua is 8 and Ellie is 6. Their pastor writes, “I trust their heart for Christ and for the church and community. They are the perfect home to know the value, to have the spiritual and emotional capacity and the Christ centered love to bring a beautiful child into a God honoring home.”
After speaking with other adoptive and foster families the Ramirez family felt drawn to international adoption. Eddie and Karina share, “We are both bilingual and ethnically Hispanic. We feel we are equipped to bring a Spanish speaking child home. We understand all children that are for adoption will have trauma in their lives. However, we feel the circumstances and distance surrounding an international adoption will make our ability to help the child optimal. …We are nervous, yet excited, about fulfilling His plan for us and our future children. We know it will be long and sometimes frustrating, but we know ultimately our little ones are out there waiting to feel our warm embrace.”
